Ref: Batch #31244 Lab #A20312-A20328 Received May 24, 1995 El Paso Project: 3201 Account: 7819 P.0. #B094-1681 Collected 12-May-95 Project #: L951038
Samples A20312 through A20328 have been analyzed by visual estimation based on EPA-600/M4-82-020 Dec. 1982 optical microscopy test method including phase contrast, polarized light, dispersion staining, and stereo microscopy.
If these samples are related to a demolition or are subject to NESHAPS 40CFR part 61 regulations, these regulations mandate that any sample containing less than 1% asbestos must be analyzed by point count. If asbestos is reported to be between 1% and 10%, see EPA "Clarification of asbestos NESHAP requirements to perform point counting." (Copy available.)
This report relates only to the items tested. This report must not be used to claim product endorsement by the NVLAP, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, or any agency of the U. S. Government. The results of analysis are as follows:
Lab A20312. Field LS (L951038-1) Mastic on tape from floor. Electrolytic copper room This is greater than 1% chrysotile asbestos in the black tar mastic. Note: Insufficient black tar mastic for a gravimetric analysis.
Lab A20313, Field L7 (L951038-2) room
This is 20% chrysotile asbestos limestone tile.
Floor tile Electrolytic copper in an olive green plastic and
Lab A20314. Field L8 (L951038-3) Counter tile, flux room This is greater than 1% chrysotile asbestos in a dark gray black plastic and limestone counter tile. Note: Insufficient yellow resin mastic for analysis.

Lab A20315. Field PH021 (L951038-4) Marine boiler south inner layer This is 5% rockwool in off-white plaster. Asbestos is none detected.
Lab A20316, Field PH022 (L951038-5) Marine boiler south outer layer This is 20% glasswool and 10% plant fiber in off-white plaster. This sample is non-homogeneous. Asbestos is none detected.
Lab A20317. Field PH023 (L951038-6) Marine boiler south elbow This is a nonhomogeneous mixture of two types of material: The first type is crosswoven fiberglass in white binder with 8% chrysotile asbestos. Some of the chrysotile asbestos is a low grade variety that grades into a lizardite antigorite polymorph. The second type of material is 20% glasswool and 10% plant fiber in white plaster. Overall this is 0.8% chrysotile asbestos.
Lab A20318. Field PH024 (L951038-7) Marine boiler south overhead pipe This is 15% glasswool and 10% plant fiber in off-white plaster. Asbestos is none detected. This sample is non-homogeneous.
LabA20319, Field PH025 (L951038-8) Marine boiler north valve-floor level This is less than 1% chrysotile asbestos in off-white plaster with 10% plant fiber and 8% glasswool. This sample is non-homogeneous.
Lab A20320, Field PH026 (L951038-9) Old 4 DA boiler surface-upper level This is a layered sample: The first layer is 45% rockwool and 10% chrysotile asbestos in gray plaster; the second layer is 30% chrysotile asbestos in black tar and binder; the third layer is orange and silver colored paint. Overall this is 25% chrysotile asbestos. This sample is non-homogeneous.
Lab A20321. Field PH027 (L951038-10) Old 4 DA boiler green elbow This is 5% chrysotile asbestos and 50% rockwool in gray plaster with orange and green paint. This sample is non-homogeneous.
Lab A20322, Field PH028 (L951038-11) Old 4 DA boiler yellow elbow This is 1.5% chrysotile asbestos and 50% rockwool in gray plaster with yellow paint. This sample is non-homogeneous.

Lab A20323. Field PH029 (L951038-12) Old boiler pipe main floor This sample contains two types of material: The first type is 10% synthetic fiber and less than 1% fiberglass in white plaster; the second type is 8% chrysotile asbestos, 5% plant fiber and 5% glasswool in gray plaster with debris. Overall this is less than 1% chrysotile asbestos. This sample is non-homogeneous. Lab A20324. Field PH030 (L951038-13) Hot process tank area steam pipe, floor level This is 15% rockwool in gray plaster. This sample is nonhomogeneous. Asbestos is none detected. Lab A20325. Field PH031 (L951038-14) Hot process tank area steam pipe floor level This is 2% fiberglass and 10% synthetic fiber in white plaster. Asbestos is none detected. Lab A20326. Field PH032 (L951038-15) Upper tank chicken wire process treater, hot process tank area, upper ceiling level This is 20% chrysotile asbestos and 25% rockwool in brown plaster. Lab A20327. Field PH033 (L951038-16) Dearating feed tank, DA tank upper ceiling level This is 12% amosite asbestos and 2% chrysotile asbestos in white plaster. Lab A20328. Field PH034 (L951038-17) Condensate return elbow, outside building This sample contains two portions: The first portion is 5% fiberglass in off white binder and perlite; the second portion is 10% chrysotile asbestos in white binder with white cotton cloth. Overall this is less than 1% chrysotile asbestos.
Very truly yours.
