Company Name and Ownership: This facility is part of the Metal Beverage Packaging Division-Americas of Ball Corporation. The permit issued by IDEM uses the nan1e "Ball Metal Beverage Container Corporation." Ball Corporation has owned the facility since 1998. Process Description: The process begins with large coils of aluminum which first pass through a cupping press and. a body maker to form the shape of the beverage can. At this point, the aluminum piece is washed to remove oils and lubricant and rinsed. Next, the outside of the can is printed wih inks and overvamish and cured in a curing oven. Next, the inside of the can is coated with a BPA, BPANi, or standard epoxy and dried in an Internal Bake Oven. Finally, the necking machine narrows the top of the can. Emissions Controls and Calculations: Exhaust from the printing operations, curing ovens, and internal bake ovens at all four lines are combined to a single RTO to control emissions ofVOCs and organic HAPs. Emissions from the coating of the interior of the can are first controlled by a dust collector and then routed to the same RTO. The facility tracks the usage, HAP-content, and VOC-content of the coatings, inks, and solvents for printing, coating and cleaning. Formaldehyde is used as the representative HAP for determining the RTO destruction efficiency. TOUR INFORMATION EPA toured the facility: Yes Photos and/or Videos: were taken during the inspection. Field Measurements: were not taken during this inspection. Page 2 of 4 CLOSING CONFERENCE Requested documents: Most recent perfonnance test for both capture efficiency and RTO destruction efficiency.
