Rodenborn - Fort Dodge GP-429 Franks Brothers Plastering Company of Sioux City, Iowa have been planning to try cur light accoustical plaster* They had a job at the General Army and Navy Store in Sioux City where they decided to use our material* We packed 100 bags for them on August 5 end Franks picked it up on August 6* Since Leo Rodenborn was on vacation, I went to Sioux City to see this material applied on Aug. ist 7s Franks had installed a suspended ceiling as part of the remodeling cf an old store building* The ceiling was metal lath on which they had put a gypsum plaster base coat using our unfibered plaster for machine application* The ceiling covered about 800 square yards* The base coat plaster had been applied starting on Monday, August U and some of it had only been applied the day before the accoustical plaster was used* The base coat was set and hard but was rather wet* They mixed the light accoustical plaster in an Anchor mixer by putting 25 gallons of water in the mixer and then adding two sacks (80 lbs*) of accoustical plaster* This is mixed at least five minutes and then 10 more gallons of water were added* This is again mixed for five minutes* If the plaster was not needed after this time it was allowed to stand in the mixer without agitation* The accoustical plaster was sprayed on with a "Tomny Gun", the machine made by the Thomason Company* This is a two cylinder pumping machine* Two men followed the sprayer darhying the plaster and filling in any low spots* They used the darby immediately after spraying and did not allow time for the accoustical plaster to take up* The a> couetical plaster worked perfectly, entirely to the satisfaction of Bob franks* They did not have any drop outs and only a very minimum of blisters were farmed* Mr. franks stated that he did not want any change made in our formula and that the working qualities were just right* The accoustical plaster was being applied 3/8" thick and they W9re getting about 9 yards per sack* They had applied 45 sacks by 3 p*a*, when I left. They expected to complete the base coat accoustical on Friday and to put the finish coat on the follow* ing Monday (August ll)* I asked the saleeman(Ralph Myers) to follow the job closely** to report results, and to take some pictures of the job, I have not heard from him, so I assume that there have been no difficulties Experienced with cur plaster* RECEIVED PAOLI.
