GENERAL . _ 1) The Tournament will be held WEDNESDAY, June 26. 2) Starting times will begin at 12:30 p.m., on blocked tees at 8 minute intervals. Please arrange with your'foursome to be on hand promptly at the time assigned on the TEAM-OWNERS CHARTS. 3) Handicaps will be figured by the Golf Pro on a system selected by Chairman Waller, giving all players equal chance. Ladies and gentlemen are all welcome even if you play but little. 4) Scoring will be Gross Score for each Player on the two-man Teams, card to be attested by your opponents. Each Player's 18 hole Gross, less his handicap, will establish his Individual Net Score. The total of the two Net Scores of each Player will become the Combined Net Team Score for Tournament purposes. 5) The Annual O'Donnell Trophy competition will be conducted and the Low Gross Player in the Tournament will be the winner. His name will be engraved on the master Trophy kept at the ISEA office, and a replica presented to him at the Banquet. B. TEAM PLAYERS AND SELECTION 1) Those wishing to play will please SIGN UP at the Bulletin Board in the Hospitality Room by TUESDAY AT 5:00 P.M. 2) On Tuesday evening, each Player's name will be drawn at fandom to determine the pairings for each TEAM. These will be posted on the Golf Pool Charts opposite the names of those who "own" Teams 1, 2, 3, etc. Starting times will be indicated on these Charts. C. GOLF POOL TEAM OWNERS 1) The Registration Fee' paid by each adult includes participation in the Golf Team Owners Pool. 2) Prior to Tuesday night, each attendee's name will have been drawn at random and posted In advance to the Golf Pool Charts as Owners of the expected number of Player Teams. CALL TO ORDER at 9:00 A.M. by President Casey II. ROLL CALL The membership present was identical to the first day with the following additional attendees: J.R. Liautaud J.E. Corbin G. Prindle, Edmont-Wilson'Company, introduced the first speaker ' of the day who was Mr. Norman Shibley, Esq., Spangenberg, Shibleyr Trade and Lancione, Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Shibley who is a .trial lawyer specializing in Product Liability Cases discussed the trend of Product Liability Suits in recent years. He pointed out the number of Product Liability cases is on the increase particularly in view of the current emphasis on consumer protection. He urged members to thoroughly test their products, maintain tight quality control procedures, and keep adequate records of "in house" testing. He described ten of his recent cases in detail and concluded his presentation by answering a number of questions. Mr. E.W. Merry, Mine Safety Appliances Company, was introduced as the moderator of the special panel presentation on "Experiences with OSHA - Favorable and Unfavorable". The first panelist was Edward N. Deck, Manager, Safety, Security and Plant Protection, General Electric Company, who discussed some of the early history of OSHA as well as describing his company1s experiences with OSHA. He pointed out that G.E. had 89 inspections in their plants in 1973 resulting in total penalties of $8,000. He also pointed out that they had 37 inspections during the first quarter of 1974, which resulted in 29 citations. He urged members to keep detailed records on their accidents. He also predicted more inspections as state plans are approved. The second speaker on the panel was Erwin O. Dykes, Secretary, Security Insurance Group who discussed the'Insurance Industry's relationship with OSHA. He pointed out the industry had a great deal of apprehension regarding OSHA at the outset, however, he feels this is now completely changed and he complimented the Department of Labor on doing an effective job. As indicated by the attached copy of his presentation, he also discussed some of the conflicts between Insurance Company recommendations and OSHA inspectors. The final panelist was the Honorable John H. Stender, Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health, whose remarks are attached. He commented particularly on OSHA's plans for the future as they relate DKS 315 2- to standards, inspections, state plans, training and education, and the Federal Safety Program.- He challenged members to become experts on standards, pointing out Company Salesmen can be most effective in educating the public regarding the benefits of OSHA. Mr. Stender pointed out the U.S. Department of Labor is diligently working on cooperation with other Federal Agencies. He also addressed himself to the matter of the customary 30 day period for comments on proposed rule changes appearing in the Federal Register. He indicated a 90 day period would be unnecessarily long for the vast majority of rule changes and would significantly slow down progress in accomplishing needed changes.
