Technical Update: Role of Regulators and NGOs: Technical Committee recommended that regulators and NGUs participate "as members of an expanded Technical committee" with participation in meetings restricted to technical issues as opposed to financial. The level to which the NGO or regulator can expect to participate will be defined in their invite letter. (Participant versus observer role will be clarified in "Roles and Responsibilities" document) Program milestones/Timeline: The Technical Committee is reviewing the information forwarded by PIs for timing and phase overlaps. It was noted that for the o Case-control study - timing will be based on accrual of 500 cases. o Disease progression -The case-control aspects of this study for AML, MDS, Aplastic anemia and benzene poisoning will be tracked based upon case accrual. PIs will be requested to estimate dates for mid term publications. o Molecular epidemiology - .The degree of overlap of the study phases based upon dates supplied by the PIs was unclear. PIs will be requested to clarify overlap, especially regarding Phases 2A & 2B. PIs will also be requested to estimate dates for mid term publications. Program reductions sufficient to address the current budget shortfall entail significant regrets and may not receive SRP and ERP approvals. Recruitment Update: Soliciting new members / funding needs to be top priority Recruitment needs to have milestones associated with deadlines. o 2nd quarter of 2003 is the deadline for 2004 budgets Member company CEOs need to be involved in recruitment effort Conference Call with Oversight and Recruitment committees scheduled for Friday, 23 August at 2:00 PM EDT. Purpose of call is to identify milestones and associate with dates; layout path forward. Annual Meeting: Asilomar Conf. Center in Monterey, CA in Summer, 2003 - has been selected. API lawyers are reviewing Asilomar contract.
