Of particular note is that proposals B-123-90, B-130-90 and B-135-90, all dealing with a requirement that combustible veneers (e.g. vinyl siding) pass a radiant ignition test, were defeated. This is the result of considerable effort. We can, I believe, .look forward to the reintroduction of proposals of this type in the next code cycle. Future proposals will be very similar to those accepted by BOCA for the 1991 National Building Code, and constitute a real threat to the vinyl siding industry. Also disapproved was B-115-90, which eliminates, with certain exceptions, the use of combustibles in plenums. This hastily-drawn measure was successfully opposed by PPFA, prompted by our suggestions that they re-examine the impact of that issue on their interests. Also disapproved was the use of CPVC pipe for sprinklers in plenums (M-24-90) and the proposal to define raised fleers in computer rooms as plenums (M-71-90). These issues will also be revisited in the next cycle and probably will be more favorably received. FBC/mgs Enclosure Frederic B. Following are the results: Standard Fire Prevention Code APPROVED AS REVISED F67-90, Section Ch. 41 (page 155) Deletes chapter and substitutes new chapter language covering decorative materials constructed of wood or plastic. Standard Mechanical Code DISAPPROVED M21-90, Section 509.1 (page 168) Revises section to include spaces above ceilings and spaces below raised flQors of computer/data processing centers. APPROVED M22-90, Section 509.1 (page 169) This revision clarifies that 509.2 was intended to apply to one and two family dwellings and spaces of 25,000 cubic feet or less. DISAPPROVED M23-90, Section 509.1 (page 169) Allows plastic sprinkler pipe to be used in plenum chambers. DISAPPROVED M24-90, Section 509.3 (page 170) Adds a new section relating to plenum ceiling systems.
