Frankly, I had more or less forgotten about my letter of April 9th to Dr. Suskind concerning Dr. Hammond, but I am, of course, pleased that you did not take exception to the opinion that I expressed. I have been disappointed that the Kettering Laboratory has seemed to leave the field of expertise which had been built up over the years and Dr. Hammond's letter to the EPA seemed to me to be the last straw. Quite frankly, I have been impressed by some of the more recent things that Dr. Hammond has written and perhaps my criticism of him was a bit premature. Certainly, I am pleased that you are now back at th^*'Laboratory working on publications. I regret that so much time has parsed since we have had contact, but seems that my travels rarely bring me tt> Cincinnati anymore. Perhaps this is a reflection of what is implied in ray first paragraph. Nevertheless, I do hope to see you soon because I think it would be most worthwhile if we could sit down and chat about what is going on at present. ( I am enclosing, for your information, a copy of the program for a Conference which the Lead Industries Association is sponsoring next week. I have been informed that you do not desire to travel any longer and this is why I did not approach you to be on the program. Certainly, however, we are always eager to have your thoughts.
