George Woodall, formerly the API Benzene Task Force staffer, now of EPA, provided the introduction. Jerry's group is working on PB-PK models of benzene and other hydrocarbons. He is very interested in the molecular epidemiology portion of the Shanghai Health Study, especially the bone marrow and blood metabolite efforts. He is sending me an e-mail indicating that he and his group would be interested in learning more about the SHS. I will send him some approved background info about the study and its aims. I told him that the consortium was still debating internally the level of involvement that no funding members might be granted. I dangled the possibility that there could be collaborative efforts between the SHS and outside researchers (RDI has mentioned as much.) but indicated that it is up to the Pis since the consortium was keeping hands off from the conduct of the research.
