Thank you for reviewing the subject study. I have talked with Don Norwood as to the.possible non-epidemiological uses of the "worker registry" informa tion developed. He can foresee no such use as the Personnel Department has other such data lists they routinely use for their purposes.
However, as you suggested in your letter, I think we should continue to maintain the system until HISS is operational. I would hope the current Chemicals' system would assist you in getting the Chemicals data entered into HISS.

Subject CONOCO CHEMICALS' MORTALITY STUDY
Enclosed is background information on a Chemicals' Mortality Study that was begun in 1979 by Dave Kuhn. This study was begun at a time when the company had no expertise in the area of epidemiology, and as you can see, no con sultants were used in the feasibility assessment or design of the study. Expenditures were approved in 1980 for computer support in developing personnel fills to be used in the study.
I would very much appreciate your review of the enclosed. I then need to discuss this with you and Bill Bolding in the near future to assess where we are with the study and future directions we need to take.
Please let me know what your thoughts are.
