APPLICATIONS Toxic concentrations of m etal fum es m ay be present in any operation or process w here alloys or m aterials containing lead, zinc, cadmium, m anganese, chromium, arsenic, and similar metals, or their compounds, are heated to tem peraatures above their melting points. The M.S.A. Comfo M etal Fume Respirator will provide approved respiratory protection against these air con taminants. Examples of such operations are: Burning, welding, and riveting steel coated with lead paint; melting and pouring brass and bronze, also metals containing lead, cadmium, m anganese, etc.; soldering and babbitting operations; sm elting and refining of lead, zinc, and other toxic metals; melting and pouring type metals as in type foundries, linotype operations; welding and cutting galvanized iron.
