The following are our recommendations regarding personal monitoring for paint contractors: Process Snapic for Paint Removal: (1) Mechanical removal - Nuisance dust Silica, Respirable Metals* (2) Chemical removal - Organic vapors* Other chemicals* Painting: (1) Brush- Organic vapors (2) Spray- Organic vapors Metals* Isocyanates* * Sample when MSDSs or other sources of information indicate this may be present. Specific organic vapors and metals must be identified for analyses. Sampling should continue until enough data are collected to draw conclusions about the potential for exposure from the process. Generally. 3 to 5 representative jobs with 3 days vorth of sampling will be needed to make conclusions. These jobs may be spread out over approximately 6 months. At the end of six months a review of the data should be made with the goal of recommending long term sampling at reduced frequency to insure continued compliance with appropriate regulations. ia.T 250d
