Kehoe Director, Kettering Laboratory Cincinnati, Ohio* Dear Doctori Since I saw you only very briefly at Rochester at the Annual Meeting, I did not get an opportunity to discuss with you, as I did vith several other Director present there, th* 1944 meeting. Even prior to the Rochester meeting I had done acne ground vork vith the view of having the Board elect S t . Louis as the 1944 host oity, and slnoe than, have done some acre thinking on the same subject. At every hand I have net encourageBent and I believe that Industrial Medicine in this locality needs, ore than anything else, the impetus which an annual mooting of the Association and its affiliate groups would bring* Our Industrial Hygiene group here is an active one and our Industrial Hurses Club is about to petition the national organi sation . Both of our Class A medical schools would give us a good clinical program on consecutive mornings . Several new industries! and plants would afford sone of the practical aspects. Since the program of papers Is not made up from talent of the host city alone, this could be what we desired to have it. In 19*i*i it viill be the midwest*s turn to entertain and an unsuccess ful bid vajs Bade for the 1942 meeting at Pittsburgh but you folks in Cincinnati beat us to it. Hotel and entertainment facilities in St. Lo u ^.8 would compare with the best. A piece of missionary work could be dene here since the relatively lethargic position of industrial medieine oould be converted into an enthusiastic situation. There are few Members here and fewer Fellows, but yon ay be sure that we can give a good accounting. I have dis cussed this proposed selection of St. Louis in 19*;4 with both Dr. Bartle and Dr. He lablad as well aa many of the Directors and I understand that St. Louis rates high. I have offered to do anything that I Bight do further and, while it will be a few months before the decision is made regarding the 1944 meeting, I have always believed in an early start.
