Dr. R. A. Kehoe,
Dear Dr. Kehoe:
Attached hereto is copy of letter from the
Chief Safety Engineer, Mr. R. W. Black, of Standard
Oil Company of New Jersey. I think it would be an ^
excellent opportunity for us to address the Petroleum
Section of the National Safety Council, of which
latter organization, incidentally, we are members,
on the handling of ETHYL fluid. On the other hand,
I think it is a subject that you are better a.ble to
cover than anyone else in our organization. Before
writing Mr. Black I would appreciate your advice as
to whether you will undertake this job. You have
until Fall to get ready* for it-- -- they don't mention
the date.

Gentlemen:
During the recent meeting of the Fourth Annual Greater New York Safety Conference a few of the safety representatives from the petroleum companies in this section met to discuss certain problems of mutual interest.
During this informal meeting the subject was raised con
cerning topics to be presented before the meeting of the National
Safety Council this fall. It was suggested that the various sales
department and refinery safety representatives would be interested
in a paper concerning the handling and mixing of tetraethyl lead and
also some comments concerning the cleaning of sales department tankage
which has been used for the storage of Ethyl gasoline.
.
There is no doubt some one in your organization who would be prepared to present such a paper before the Petroleum Section meeting of the National Safety Council. This group, as you can appreciate, is composed of the safety representatives of the various oil companies.
Will you please address your reply to Mr. J. L. Risinger, whose address you will note below, as chairman of the Program Committee. .
Very truly yours,
RWBEMK
