Gentlemen: - At the request of George Liskum, Chief Clerk of our local office I examined an employee by the name of About three weeks ago was obliged to stop work because of severe pains in his chest. He said that he had been having similar attacks off and on for more than a year, but that lately they had been getting worse. At the time the attack occurs he complains of tightness across the top of his chest, shortness of breath and nausea then pain. At times he is very nervous and cannot sleep. Examination reveals a very bad mouth condition, pyorrhea with puffy gums, and a blue line very well mark ed just above the upper border of the teeth. The diagnosis is definite? chronic lead poisoning due to the constant inhalation of ethyl gas fumes. Ward tells me that he un loads on an average of 3,000,000 gals, of the gas each year and has been working for the company 3| years. Acting upon my advice he had sevdral teeth extract ed and stopped smoking. He was away from work for a period of three weeks during which time he received full salary. He returned to work Jan. 2nd and reported to my office this afternoon. I find him greatly improved, pyorrhea entirely gone, blue line fading and indistinct, gums not swelled or spongy, sleeps and eats normally. I have advised Liskum to use Ward in other employment until he has fully recovered.
