Asbestos Exposure Monitoring
Attached are the results of the Asbestos monitoring performed on two insulators and one laborer just outside Building 9 at the Institute plant. There were four insulators and three laborers working on this job, stripping approximately 100 ft of 6 inch line.
All employees were equipped with disposable coveralls, headsock, boots, gloves and a cartridge respirator designed for dusts and mists. The disposable equipment was discarded before leaving the barricaded area and new equipment worn upon returning. The area was well posted for the Asbestos hazards.
The sample results indicate that all of the exposure levels were below the permissible level of 2 fibers per cc of air. However, we continue to stress the importance of the required usage of excess water to control the airborne fibers and personal protective equipment.
