Attached is a memorandum concerning the current status of our examination of certain consumer paper products (facial tissues) to determine whether chrysotile asbestos is being added in their manufacture. I am pleased to report to you that we have found no evidence of ' this material being used in the manufacture of the products we've examined. < The fact that there had been such prior use should be considered in light of the short period of the use (less than a year), by only two companies. We received full cooperation from asbestos industry groups during our investigation. Mr. F. J. Solon of Johns-Manville helped in stitute an industry-wide survey of the problem, to ascertain whether such use was now prevalent and to insure that any consideration of future use would include awareness of potential hazard.
