Creech, M.D. 806 Medical Towers Louisville, Kentucky 40202 Dear Dr. Creech: On April 5, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) promulgated an emergency temporary standard regulating occupational exposure to vinyl chloride, and on May 10, OSHA published a proposed permanent standard regulating such exposure in the Federal Register. At a public hearing held recently by OSHA concerning the proposed permanent standard, reference was made on several occasions to the Conference on Toxicity of Vinyl Chloride - Polyvinyl Chloride sponsored by the New York Academy of Sciencies on May 10 and 11. Because it is my understanding that the Proceedings of the Conference will not be published prior to the close of the record of the public hearing on August 23, I am requesting that you provide OSHA with a draft copy of your presentation made at the Conference for inclusion in the record of the public hearing. It is understood that your presentation is to be formally published by the New York Academy of Sciences as a part of the Conference Proceedings. For this reason, your presentation would not be published by OSHA but would only be used as reference material to complete the record of the public hearing, although any material submitted by you would be available at OSHA for public viewing and duplication.
