Company Ownership: The facility has had the same ownership since at least 2012.
Process Description: The Fort Dearborn Company (FDC) facility prints commercial labels. Large rolls of paper are received and then slit to size for one of four active printers. Vegetable-based inks are mixed with VOC-containing fountain solutions to make the reservoir-ready solution used by the printers. Printed sheets are dried with a powder desiccant and then cut to size for packaging and shipping. All paper scraps from cutting and slitting are routed to a baghouse and then bailed for reuse. Desiccant powder in collected in a cyclone baghouse for disposal. VOCs are not controlled. Inks and fountain solutions are received in drums and totes and pumped directly to printer reserv01rs.
