See inspection report dated November 4, 1936, Mr. Johnston was familiar with our instructions for tank cleaning and stated that they would be followed to the letter if they had to clean a leaded gasoline tank. They have not cleaned a tank to date at Parco and doubt if they will for some time. Tanka are all. reported, to be in good condition at the present. Due to lack of experience Mr. Johnston had to assume ho?? some of the points In question would be handled. Mr. Johnston did not know of any instruction from their home office on tank cleaning. In cheeking over their files we found that booklet titled, "Rules and Instruction For Guidance of Employees'', covers tanking cleaning to some extent from view point of fire hazord mostly. The refinery complies 'with safety instructions of Safety Engineer, Mr. Joe Bernd, of ^heir East Chicago office. He visits refinery about every three months and conducts safety meetings. In his absence Mr. Joe Johnston, crude still foreman, chocks on regulation. National Safety Council Bulletins are posted about the plant.
