Goodrich Company Akron, Ohio YLY- March 5, 1957 Dear Mr. McCormick: This refers to your letter of February 22, concerning the acceptability of Ferro 707X Stabilizer and Ferro 76OX Stabilizer, manufactured by the Ferro Chemical Corporation, Bedford, Ohio, as ingredients of plastic film in which meat and meat food product will be packaged. Ferro 76QX Stabilizer has been accepted by this office for inclusion as a stabilizer in synthetic plastic film used for wrapping meat and meat food product prepared under our supervision. It is our understanding that Ferro 707X Stabilizer has been indicated by Dr. A. J. Lehman, Food and Drug Administration, to be acceptable for use as an ingredient of food packaging films on the basis of information furnished by the manufacturer concerning its degree of extractability and its eonposition. Since information of this nature has not been furnished us, we are unable to make a statement concerning its acceptability. However, if the manufacturer provides us with the data previously furnished to the Food and Drug Administration, we will advise you with regard to its suitability for use in food packaging filmB for meat food product.
