EFFECTS IN THE USE OF THERMAL INSULATING MATERIAL INCLUDING ASBESTOS The attached outline lists some of the subjects upon which action has occurred and about which questions have arisen since the time of the last previous conference on asbestos insulating material which was in June of 1972. The first Company conference on asbestos insulating material was held in May of 1970 prior to the enactment of the Occuptional Safety and Health Act 1970 Haskell Laboratory has been the subject of numerous requests for date information on this subject In a meeting with repre. sentatives of Engineering Service Division it was agreed that a Company- wide conference would be the best means of disseminating information to representatives from the departments and the plants who are concerned with the health protection of workers and with compliance with OSHA requirements It was agreed that we should explore with the Training Division of the National Institutoef Occupational Safety and Health the possibility of that division furnishing a program for a Conference and putting on the program at a location of our choosing In prelimitanlkawrityh HICSH I learned that the Training Divisio vans agreeable to an invi to t presa entt a pi rogo ramn on this subject In a recent talk E. D. Leininger and J. S. Ferguson of NIOSH Training Division have agreed to furnish speakers on the topics listed in the attached outline and to do this during a period of one full day plus a couple of hours on the following day Dates have been chosen as May 29 and 30 1974 . Engineering Service Division has agreed to attend to arrange- ments for accommodating this conference NIOSH has asked that attendance be limited to 60 persons H. K. Walters e2e _ . - Apr 30i19l 74 The Training Division of HIOSH will submit a proposal and a simple letter contract to cover their participation in this conference It is estimated that the charge to Du Pont by NIOSH will be between 2,a0 nd 0 2,00 00 Attendees at the conference would be expected to contribute on a per capita basis as vas done in the two previous asbestos conferences While efforts are being made to obtain a meeting place in the Wilmington area and to arrange all the facilities for such a it is difficult to give a precise estimate of a conference per capita cost It ' seems definite it will not exceed 200 which is the cost of three training course in asbestos technology at NIOSH Cincimati Ohio The OSHA Coordinating Committee is requested to give approval and support to this plamed program .
