Tab G MANUFACTURING PRACTICES COMMITTEE During the period since the last Board meeting, the Manufacturing Practices Committee has engaged in the following activities: 1) Finalized and submitted comments on EPA's proposed revisions to the general provisions of the National Emission Standards for hazardous_air pollutants. 2) Finalized and submitted comments on EPA proposed recommended maximum contaminant levels of various organic constituents in drinking water. 3) At EPA's invitation, we met with them in Durham to discuss their response to the Committee's comments presented on August 30 at the National Air Pollution Control Techniques Advisory Committee meeting which concerned revisions to the existing vinyl chloride standard. The Committee is making progress toward needed and wanted revisions and EPA has stated their intention to publish draft proposed revisions in the first quarter of 1985. 4) Participated with three separate presentations at the October Vinyl Chloride Safety Association meeting. 5) Requested nominations from member companies regarding the Institute's planned 1985 safety awards program. Nominations are being submitted. 6) Met with the vinyl producing member companies to discuss in detail EPA's polychlorinated biphenyl regulations particularly in regard to inadvertantly generated PCB's from excluded manu facturing processes.
