This summarizes our situation with regard to our preparedness to run dioxin analyses at Dayten.
crftu
We have been running analyses of dioxin in pen-fcachlorophenol for MIC since the Sturgeon spill- Our detection limits might typically be 50 ppb in that matrix. We arc preparing to examine Krummrich effluents samples as well for dioxins. The detection limit isf of course, extremely dependent on matrix, but these too would be trace analyses.
Hie Dow work involves ultra-trace analyses of dioxins with detection limits at the low ppt level. If wc were to equip ourselves to do this we would have to:
1) Aquire another mass spectrometer system and dedicate it to these ultra- trace analyses. (This is for reasons of both contamination and instrument availability) .
2) Allow a seasoned professional to spend some time getting good at the analyses.
