Sandy reported that during the recent blood drive seventy pints of blood were collected. There is a drum of unknown origin in Dept. 3. Chuck Federico working with Norm Levin to determine its contents and where it belongs. A reminder that extra MEK needs to go into the storage shed. is Dave reported that all departments were up to date with the Monthly Training Reports. This month's safety topic is Personal Protective Equipment. Dave told the foreman that they may discuss any additional protective equipment they like, but they must discuss each piece of equipment used by employees in the foreman's respective department. Larry Rezendes presented the Maintenance Report. There have only been five safety-related maintenance requests thus far this year. There are two requests outstanding from 1994. The Workers' Compensation Reportable Injuries List for February l,-95 was reviewed. Norm Levin's Fire Report was reviewed. The 1995 year-to-date AIW Summary of Number of Medical Only and Lost Time Workers' Compensation claims was reviewed against the claims of the 1994 and 1993 year-to-date summaries (thus far into the vear ). So far 1995's numbers have improved from past years. When first aid is being performed the person administering the treatment must wear gloves. Make sure to clean the injured area. Most importantly, leave Sandy a note so she knows which employee was treated, who administered the treatment and what was done. This is especially important for those supervisory personnel who work evenings, when Sandy is generally not in the plant. He was holding the belt in his left hand and turning the bow with his right hand without removing the guard. His hand became caught between the belt & pulley. 1/2507 Manuel Oiiwira 3/4/95 Ruptured bicep Employee states that he was lifting an empty scrap barren when he felt a sharp pain in his right bicep. Ha was turning 30" reels when his hand slipped off of the flange causing him to lose his balance and fall to the floor.
