ADMINISTRATIVE L. Smith called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. The minutes of the January 27, 1993, meeting were approved as written. 2. STEERING TASK GROUP J. Olguin reported on the activities of the STG meeting. He discussed plans for the open meeting and the planning meeting. noted that Focus Area leaders will be developing draft issue statements, goals and objectives for the planning meeting. He 3. FT 1992/93 BUDGET J. Olguin reviewed the FY 1992/93 budget, noting approved expenditures to date. He reviewed the funding requests for today's meeting. 4. SPONSOR RESPONSIBILITY J. Olguin reviewed the revised description of HSC sponsor responsibilities. The Committee approved the description, but asked that the sponsor's role also include being champion of quality processes within the task and work groups. 5. SPONSOR REPORTS Committee sponsors briefed the Committee on activities and programs within their assigned areas. 6. TSCA B. Smith requested $15,000 for technical support with comment preparation for the EPA proposed PMN exemptions. The committee approved the request. 7. LABELING C. Cofta (for L. Rampy) requested $35,000 to study the readability of label phrases. The Committee approved the request. 8. INDOOR AIR P. Lubs requested $15,000 for analysis of the impact of multiple chemical sensitivity on the chemical industry. The Committee approved the request. 9. EXPOSURE ASSESSMENT M. Jayjock/Rohm & Haas updated the Committee on the technical peer review of EPA's Generic Occupational Exposure Assessment Methods. He outlined the events leading up to the current situation. C. RISK A. J. Sepesi requested approval of the position paper on multimedia exposure and risk assessment models and methods. The Committee approved the paper. B. J. Sepesi requested $12,000 to produce a report summarizing the risk assessment/management survey results. The Committee approved the request. 11. TUR L. Smith briefed the Committee on TUR draft statements, chemical management principles and beliefs, and interim strategy and concepts. He requested that the Committee send comments directly to C. Cofta by February 19, 1993. 12. EPA D. Sigman asked for approval of a concept paper for the development of comments on EPA's Environmental Leadership Program. The Committee approved the concepts presented in the paper. Specific comments should be sent directly to J. Mayhew/CMA by February 26, 1993. 13. PRODUCT STEWARDSHIP A. J. Kasper provided an overview of the Product Stewardship Focus Area and outlined the presentation on the focus area. R. Kraska/Lubrizol briefed the Committee on the activities of the Existing Chemical Control Task Group. W. Haaf/DuPont updated the Committee on the activities of the Product Stewardship Task Group. C. Kuta/Procter & Gamble provided an overview on Life Cycle Assessment. M. Herrity briefed the group on the activities of the Existing Chemical Testing Task Group. B. M. Herrity (for D. Macauley) requested $30,000 to fund the preparation of the Hazard Characterization Resource Guide. The Committee approved the request. 14. L.
