Conoco, Ino., Ho. 90-4837 ''' 14th Judicial District Court Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana Dear Dr. Stack: Enclosed please find ten bound copies of Environmental Health Associates' proposal to update the Mortality Study of Vinyl Chloride Workers a* discussed in our meeting of June 25/26, 1980. The proposal is presented in two phases: (1) the activity required to prepare the master computer tape* for follow-up, and (2) the activity required to update the study through December 31, 1979. The cost set forth in the present proposal is greater than that estimated in EHA's letter of January 15, 1980. In that letter we stated: "The development of an accurate estimate of the probable costs to perform the five-year follow-up requires more precise information than is now available. Until the existing data are reviewed, it is not possible to determine the study design which will be most pro ductive and cost-efficient." Since January we have had an opportunity to review the data and now realize the extensive work necessary to prepare the data for follow-up study. Based on the definition of requirements for the follow-up study provided during the June 1980 meeting, we are now able to more accurately estimate the costs associated with that effort. We feel that EHA is well qualified to perform this work for the Chemical Manufacturers Association since we have the qualified staff and have an intimate knowledge of the data to be studied.
