I N T E?iy OFFICE MEMO TEN N EC 0 CHEMICALS, INC To H. B. Carr From P. F. Albanese Subject TCE at Flemington at Flemington date July 14, 1969 Cory to E. Farber J. C. Fisher J. P. Gilmartin E. J. Hourihan M. K. Rosen G. I. Rozand M. W. Williams Project 70-001 A fairly extensive Pilot Plant study was completed on various grades of TCE and reported by J. P. Gilmartin in Technical Report No. 53. One of his conclusions confirms what was noticed in the plant recently; the extraction grade TCE does generate a finer particle. His other conclusion also confirms E. Farber^s more recent data on kinetics and chain transfer properties. What might be even more important is Appendix C of the report where John compares the electronic grade with a grade manu factured by the Detrex Chemical Co. In this particular case, the particle sizes were equivalent, however, the Detrex gave longer reaction times. The report points out that the company should standardize on the electronic grade as we could expect the least number of problems and also less variability between TCE shipments, I do not believe we should continue to test other TCE suppliers or grades. I recommend we maintain our electronic grade specification. PFA:em f. P. F. Albanese COLORITE 016010
