Ve have taken this material off in accordance with your sketch, except that in the case of the water wall section, it is de sired to obtain 1 3/4* of Quigley* s Plastic Ineulcrete back of the wat-?r wall tubes* Inasmuch as there is but 5* between the steel casing in back of the water wall tubes, it is im possible to get in 1 3/4* of Ineulcrete and 4* of Vitrobastos. Ve are, therefore, figuring on two 1 1/2* layers of Vitrobastos instead of two'2" layers. This is also in accordance with Mr. Frewin*s letter to you dated January 20. This is 1,000 cu. ft., and inasmuch as .the material weighs approximately 64 pounds per cu. ft. as applied, this will require 64,000 "" pounds of this material. We have not been able to obtain information .on the Laclede-Christy -Acidproof Cement. However, we believe that sufficient material will he required to mortar-joint approxi mately 10,500 lineal feet 1 1/2" wide x 1/4* thick. The inner layer of the acidproof cement between the Vitrobestoe and the other material amounts to approximately 5,000 sq. ft* l/8" thick* From Mr. Frewin's letter, we do not believe that it is his intention to apply a second 1/8" thick layer between the two layers of Titrobestos. If he requires this second layer, of course it will be necessary to add sufficient material for covering another 5,000 sq, ft. 1/8" thick. In this material no allowance has been mads for the additional losses through droppage, etc. We have had information from the factory that the Vitro-- bestos can be shipped in approximately eight weeks from re ceipt of the order at the factory. Ihe majority of the other materials will take approximately ten weeks. With a mixed carload such as this, we believe that it would be advisable to try and make the entire Shipment in one car.
