Dear Mr. Stapleton:
Pursuant to your letter of May 24 and our telephone conversation on May 28, I will attempt, once again, to provide information concern ing expenses which we have incurred in connection with the replace ment of Pydrauls.
Attached is a Xerox copy of a schedule prepared by our Engineering
Department indicating the location and quantities of the various
Monsanto products.
As indicated in our telephone conversation on May 16, we have incur

charges. It is our best estimate Jdiat freight to return the 2nd generation products would be approximately $407.50 and to return the 3rd generation products would be approximately $327.50.
Monsanto technical people have suggested a handling charge of ten percent and an incineration charge of three cents per pound on 3rd generation Pydraul fluids. The above-listed figures do not include handling and incineration charges.
I have reviewed the December 7, 1972 letter addressed to Dr. Hardin by Mr. Papageorge. The December 7, 1972 letter does not contain a satisfactory explanation of the fact that we found PCB's in 3rd generation fluids. Enclosed is a Xerox copy of the results of the WARF analysis of the Monsanto products.
Under the circumstances, it is again our suggestion that Monsanto reimburse Ralston Purina Company $8,049.88 for expenses incurred and that Monsanto authorize return of both 2nd and 3rd generation products for disposition at no cost to Purina.
Please advise if I may give you additional information.
