Olson MTC 017446 General Headquarters, Box 91 November 20, 1947 File 436-R41 MEMORANDUM Mr. Devyver and the writer had a meeting with Mr. Hartwell and Mr. Goodloe of Metal Textile Corporation in regard to air filters. Briefly, Metal Textiles feel that they have a real product which will sell in the air filter field for both domestic and industrial uses. They expect to work exclusively with American Air Filter Company. They are satisfied with the fiber they are receiving from Johns-Manville. They agree that we should work out details of our arrangement with them at an early date so that they will know what to provide- in their contract with American Air Filter. They are very anxious about the price and would like to be advised as soon as they can on this subject. The Modigliani situation was explained to them and they seemed satisfied that we should not encounter any very great difficulties from activities of Modigliani. Ve expect to examine the sample filter noy in Mr. Devyver's office to determine whether there is any possibility of patent protection on the product. It will be examined both as to the particular fiber construction, meaning fiber sise, density, and binder, or lack of it, as well as the physical, construction of the unit and Its two facings, one of cardboard with large openings, about 6x4", and the other a woven wire mesh, corrugated so that lint will be caught without touching the filter.
