N Whyjer__ Production scale calendering trials on a flexible and a semi-rigid compound (KDA-2978 @ 30% DOP equivalency and KDA-2216 @ 20% DOP equi valency) were conducted using low and medium molecular weight PSG homo polymer and QSOM. The PSG resins ran faster than bulk or suspension UCC analogs without sacrifice in properties in the softer compound and at equivalent speed in the semi-rigid compound. The QSOM results were below expectations. Slow drying during preblending, and an inability to develop the physical properties (especially tensile, elongation and low temperature) found during laboratory evaluations of this resin were the chief shortcomings plus haze development in the semi rigid compound. Additional laboratory work is in progress here and at South Charleston to understand and correct these deficiencies. Detailed reports will issue shortly. NLZ/rch
