As you are likely aware, in October 2022, the Commission made a proposal to update the WFD, EQSD, and GWD. We have been monitoring this file since its inception and have now arrived at the discussion stage in the European Council. Unfortunately, it appears that a final decision may not be reached during the Spanish Presidency, despite the monthly WPE meetings organised to discuss the Commission's proposal. As a result, it is feasible that the matter might be deferred to the Belgian Presidency. With this in mind, I am writing to enquire if you have been monitoring this file and if you have any knowledge of Belgium's position, as well as the possible timeline.
