The electron capture gas chromatographic fingerprint was equivalent in every respect to our Aroclor 1254 standards. The amounts detected are considerably less than the 274 ppb Aroclor 1254 found in Sample No. 2084 taken prior to the removal of Pydraul from the plant. I think we should plan to analyze at least one more set of samples in order to verify the decreasing Aroclor 1254 levels. The sampling time should be scheduled so that we can analyze them as soon as we receive them. I would also appreciate it if the following sampling procedure is employed. Two water samples (~300 ml) should be taken at each sampling site. The samples should be obtained by direct immersion of a 16 oz. narrow neck screw cap (aluminum foil liner) bottle 5-6 times per sampling. The bottles should then be securely closed and labeled with the following information. Sample reference number Date taken (month and day) Description of Sampling Site - distance from plant, any unusual conditions, etc. . Please check the bottles for leaks before shipment. It is also important that the bottles be washed with hot, soapy water, rinsed with distilled water, acetone, AR hexane, and dried prior to use. MONS 09 7992 C. R.
