October JO, 1942. Mr. John Buxell, Chief Engineer, Sanitary and Food Control Section, 64 Municipal Courts Building, St. Louis# Missouri. Bear Mr. Maxell1 I am very glad to inform you that the lead symposium has been accepted after a long delay due to the absence of the editor from his office, and will appear in the February number of the Journal of Industrial Hygiene and Toxicology. This number of the Journal will be made up solely of the symposium, and it is anticipated that later perhaps the symposium will be printed for wider distribution and sale. This, I think, might be advan tageous for there is much useful information in the symposium. X think I should point out to you as a natter of courtesy that some editorial changes were made in your manuscript. These were made in part by me for the sake of having all of the papers show some rough -correspondence in arrangement, and by the editor of the Journal, with the idea of eliminating some material, which in his opinion was available elsewhere. I refer here to the methods of analysis ,whieh in the case of this particular journal would certainly have been redundant in that the complete articles have been published for the most part in this same journal. I feel quit confident that none of the editorial changes were of such a sort as to change the meaning of what had been said and I took the liberty of approving them without con sulting you, largely because these are very busy days and few of us have the time that is necessary to write, back and forth repeatedly on such matters . X hop 1 have not been guilty of a discourtesy and I have certainly not felt that I was incurring such guilt. It seems probable that you will want some reprints of your arti cle. If you will let me know what you want in the way of re prints, I will pass this Information on to the editor and they will be sent you directly. If you would like any reprints of the other articles, you sight also let me know. With kindest personal regards. Cordially yours. RAK ef Sobers *A. ehoeM j 5.
