t-IM (IOOM) 't..ofr,c ,s,, TENNECO CHEMICALS, INC. to Subject h. B. Carr AT Burlington E. L. Kanyok At Burlington Quality Control Increased Work Load copy to August 29, 1969 j. c. Fisher E. J. Hourihan P. R. Scarito W. D. Wesely Since the Flemington plant shut-down the work load at the Burlington plant has increased tremendously. The increased work load is in the area of Homopolymer. 1. Bulk shipments that normally were shipped from the Flem ington plant are now being handled by the Burlington plant. Customer requirements on some of these shipments require special testing before being released by Quality Control. 2. We are receiving preshipment samples of competitive resins that have to be analyzed for possible use in the Compound plant. 3* Two to three truckloads a day of competitive resins have to' be analyzed before they are emptied into the Compound plant bins. To make things more difficult, the Plastisol plant is having trouble with 1730 relative viscosities and the Special Requests are coming in from all directions. 1. Relative viscosity on batch latex samples. 2. Relative viscosity on Fine Product samples every four hours. 3. Relative viscosity on blend tank latex samples. Also, filtration time and cake characteristic on 1755 latex. In addition to this they are making 20,000 lb. lots of 1755 which increases our complete lot analysis three-fold. In * order to try and keep up with this increased work load, I have temporarily discontinued the DIDP Gel Test on all resins except 250-1 for General Cable and bulk shipments to General Cable, /'in the Plastisol area the Fine Product, which is being tested for kinetics, will be decreased from one per shift to one per day. Until the Flemington plant is back in operation and our work load is back to near normal, I would appreciate it if all departments, including the R & D Group, would keep their Special Requests to a minimum.
