THE INDUSTRIAL SAFETY MOVEMENT that we, as beurs of these fathers of our profession, have been given a great oppor tunity for useful service and a great re sponsibility to extend and improve it, that upon the fruitfulness of our labors depend, in large measure, the future of industrial efficiency, economic and social welfare, and the human happiness of uncounted thou sands of people. "Our hope can be stated in these terms "1 That we will be bumble enough to ac cept gratefully the wisdom accumulated and passed on by our predecessors in safety work "2 That we will be brave enough to dare to try the new idea that gives promise of value. "3 That we will be wise enough to know which is the better course in any spe cific situation " Finally, here is a prayer for safety men offered at the Milwaukee Conference of 1912 by Dr Edward A Sterner. "Oh Lord, our God, who dost promise to those who meet in Thy name. Thine own presence, we have come together not to consider our own weal or wealth, we have come here in Thine own name to consider the well-being of our fellow men . .
