Bear Manfred: In reference to the April Issue of 11Consumer1s Research -bulletin," Dr. McConnell has called ay attention to analyses which were made some years ago -when Made Wright was in our Industrial Medical Department oil foods, candies and dentifrices, with respect to their lead content. Consumers' Research is digging up an old bone. The analyses of many well known candies and foods, according to the study, showed lead content In milligrams par pound ranging from .05 for a brand of canned corn, up to 13.5 for a mill; chocolate bar. At that time, this information was not released. Apparently people have gotten along very -veil. Dr. Wright's inquiry was initiated In the thought that popular foil-wrapped package candy might contain minute quantities of lead. ,To his surprise, many such candies did. contain significant quantities of lead, but the foils in which they v/ere marketed were lead freel .
