As reported in the referenced memo, a set of AI and FCE samples were started for BOD analysis on 3/2/71. The samples were run beyond the five-day analysis period due to disagreement of re sults between the replication of the AI and FCE samples (Table I attached). No explanation can be given for the decrease in the rate of the BOD rise for AI 1 and FCE 3 samples. It is speculated, however, that at least in the case of AI 1, a ni trification of the sample took place.
The calculated five-day BOD values are:

The ten-day BOD results showed the following calculated levels:

The BOD reduction AI/FCE of the four-day samples showed 72.2$, while the ten-day results showed a 70.1$ reduction. The corres ponding COD value for the same samples were:
