I'm in the process of ascertaining now whether there are more current documents available. I have made one contact at NIOSH and we may have a problem. The NIOSH document may well not support the official PPG stance. The "official" PPG stance must be our MSDS which is supplied to all our customers and to anyone requesting our printed technical information. This MSDS information is compiled from many sources such as the two previously mentioned sources. As a matter of fact, I believe you sat in on (at least you were invited) a meeting here at General Office on March 13, 1978, "EDC Work Practice Review," when a lot of this original consternation was occurring. If one is guided by a NIOSH statement that appears in their document that states in part " -- Substances that cause cancer in experimental animals must be considered to pose a potential cancer risk in man." Then EDC must be considered as a potential carcinogen. However, if you are guided by the "official" PPG document that states in part, "Although no evidence presently exists showing EDC to cause cancer in humans, it is strongly suggested -- etc.," then it is non-carcinogenic to humans.
