(See Attached) Major saFety concerns have surFaced as a result oF these publications due to the continued existence oF asbestos in the brake shoe 1inings; thereby, leading to potential health hazards, stringent handling and storage procedures as well as obligatory annual employee medical exams. Because oF these concerns, we require that an alternate non-asbestos material be supplied in the brake shoe lining. United currently has over 2,000 trailers equipped with these brake shoe linings. Your earliest response as to what alternatives DICO can provide would be appreciated.
