MINUTES or PREVIOUS KSSTIHg The Chairman announced that the minutes of the previous meetings held on June 16th and i>th 1965 had been distributed. Upon restion duly made, seconded and unanimouely passed, it was RESOLVED5 That the minutes of the meetings Held on June 16th and 2?th 1965 be accepted as distributed. REPORT OF THE PRESIDENT Mr. Bette reported that It the Institute is to continue to survive, and is to take its place in the economy of this country, we must develop and release informa tion that it heiptul to the Meebers. Suth information would be useful to State end Federal governments and would increase the stature of the Institute. The burden of accomplishing this, of course, will fail on the membership. The work being done by various committees, especially that of the Brake Berfotmanee Study Committee under the leadership of Mr. R. E. Nelson, is well known. In addition, mem bers keep the Institute alerted as to what is going on in Che industry; contribute specialised knowledge, etc, all for Che welfare of the members and the industry in general. Although hot specifically part of coenittere assignments, such infomat ion is very important. The burden of keeping this orgatfiimnri'on running-efficiently is an our Secretary who sees to it that whet has to be done is dene. A simple summary of what has been handled by the Office, since June 1, 1965 through May 31 st of this year is that there were nine <9) data book bulletins with a total of 33 pages and three (3) shoe bulletins totaling 12 pages or twelve (121 bulletins consisting of H pages released The run for each bulletin is over 2000 copies and this work plus the collating and nailing is done by the staff. In addition, there were seventeen (1?) general bulle tins, fifteen (15) sets of minutes, nine (9) notices of various types and nineteen (19) memorandum*. 2350 blue prints were forwarded upon request, 1356 letters for warding information requested as well as 21S1 telephone and telegraphic requests handled within this period. A great deal of time Is spent on the foregoing and this does not take into consideration Che amount of time spent in prod reading the date book and the shoe catalog.
