The first is a list of "shovel ready for 2017" water infrastructure projects that I assembled in January as part of my efforts on the transi ti on team and with the help of the Envi ronmental Counci 1 of the States. As you can se e, the list is quite 1ong and includes dozens of water infrastructure projects that are ready to go THIS YEAR if fundi ng is avai1able. Second, I am attachi ng revi sed electroni c copi es of documents related to the possi ble Presi denti al Poli cy Di rective establi shi ng water as an admi ni strati on pri ori t y . In the interests of expedi ti ng thi ng s, these versi ons do not contemplate the immedi ate formati on of the presi denti al water commi ssi o n , somethi ng that mi ght take considerable ti me and effort to accompli s h . Rather, I have prepared one that is si 1ent on that issue and simply establ ishes water as a pri ori t y , and another that delegates the formati on of an inter-agency task force the Admi ni strator of EPA. Hopeful 1y one of these si mpler opti ons will be much easier to accompli sh in ti me for an announcement on World Water Day. I have also included a revi sed onepage summary of thi ngs as well. To recap that opportuni ty- World Water Day is March 22. An announcement of ei ther versi on of the PPD on that date would send a strong si gnal of concrete acti on when the media and the country are focused on the issue. Moreover, if the task force is formed and delivers a nati onal water strategi c pi a n , that report 12 months 1ater will further demonstrate accomplishment and could be announced on the next World Water Day in 2018, thus establ ishi ng a cycle of positive achi evement on thi s cri ti cal issue. The US Water Partnershi p is hoidi ng an event on March 22 at the State Department's Insti tute of Peace that will be attended by a vi rtual "w h o 's who" in of the water community as well as the media. There is an open a spot on the agenda for someone to announce the PPD (hopefully Ad mi n. Pruitt) if that could be done. But even if it ca n't , theywouldvery much 1ike to have the Admi ni strator make some remarks at the meeti n g . I am goi ng to have themextend aformal invi tati on ASAP if they haven't already.
