It is Vista's opinion that PVC Compound is non-hazardous. The definition of hazardous means many things to different people, but the most prevalent context of that term seems to be in relation to the 0SHA Hazard Communication Standard definition. The discussion below is in that context. Under the standard, a product is considered to be hazardous if it exhibits a physical or health hazard. A material is a physical hazard if it is a combustible liquid, flammable liquid or solid, compressed gas, explosive, organic peroxide, oxidizer, pyrophoric, reactive or water reactive. PVC Compound exhibits none of these characteristics. A material presents a health hazard if statistically significant data from a study done in accordance with established scientific protocol indicates an effect may occur in exposed populations. Vista is not aware of any such studies for PVC Compound. Although PVC Compound may contain hazardous materials, as additives, such as lead, the important issue is whether handling the product (compound) under normal conditions of use could create an exposure. Vista's experience in our manufacturing plant is that there is no significant exposure to compound additives when handling the actual compound product.
