Bulk #/G 60 Uo S5 100 5*75 CAB 5.38 Remarks PURS SYNTHETIC RED OXIDES are produced by the thermal decomposition of iron sulfate or by precipitating iron hydrate and converting by controlled cal cination. The pure oxides have clear mass color and sharp clean tints. They wet easily, are chemically inert and non-fading, and are -unaffected by ordinary baking temperatures. They are used wherever a low-cost, high-covering pigment is desired. SYNTHETIC RED OXIDES from Minnesota Mining contain approximately 10-15? of inert of silica type which is not separated when the ore is initially con verted to iron sulfates. NATURAL RED OXIDES produced from selected iron ores are not as bright or strong as the pure synthetic oxides, but find wide application due to low cost. PERSIAN GULF OXIDE is a red oxide manufactured from red hematite ores from that area. VENETIAN REDS are calcium sulfate base iron oxide pigments produced by roast ing a mixture of iron sulfate and hydrated calcium oxide, resulting in a simultaneous formation of red iron oxide and anhydrous calcium sulfate.
