Since there is apparently no established procedure for approving swimming pool liners can we logically assume that an accelerated extraction study similar to those recommended by the Food & Drug Administration for food packaging materials would suffice in this other application? Perhaps a maximum film surface might be ex posed to a minimum volume of extractive solvents such as distilled water, a dilute acid, and a dilute alkali at an elevated temperature for several weeks or more and the residue than examined, in this case for extracted pigment and tin? In the event that such a procedure were considered adequate would you be willing to provide an opinion based upon evidence gathered in our laboratories as does the F. & D. A. in food packaging work or would the entire study be conducted in your own facilities? Further, can you provide us with some indication as to the fee for the above consultation services?
