PRESENTATION ROHM AND HAAS KENTUCKY LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY Theresa Hartley How was the Deer Park Community Advisory Council (DPCAC) formed? What are the basic ground rules for DPCAC? In the Spring of 1990, an ad hoc steering committee was formed to begin to identify key community members and ground rules for the DPCAC. The steering committee originally had representation from four of our industry neighbors and six community members. It was agreed that all local industries would be asked to participate and community members were identified to produce a diversified, yet broad base of our Deer Park community. Members of the DPCAC were chosen for both their personal attributes and the interests/expertise they could bring to the council. Those members were identified by their willingness to serve, ability to communicate and by participating in monthly meetings to identify public concerns to be considered/discussed by the council. The community-wide organizations and/or constituencies would be represented from the following areas: Medical - Professional and Facilities Merchants - Small Business . While the membership of the DPCAC represents a cross-section of the community-at-large, each person has been chosen to serve as an individual and not as an official representative of the institution he/she comes from. Each member is free to present his/her own viewpoints and to bring to the council any .concerns of friends, neighbors or associates in the Deer Park community. No one is expected to defend, endorse or support the actions of industry of the DPCAC as a whole. Council members serve indefinite terms of office; however, annually they respond to a letter from the group asking whether they wish to renew their commitment to participation in the DPCAC for another year.
