The spending totals include $1.7 million for salaries and benefits, though $1.2 million of that total accounts for Justice employees who have been detailed to the Mueller probe, which is examining ties between Moscow and President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign. New hires have cost $500,696 for the period between Mueller's appointment in mid-May and the end of September. Mueller also spent $733,969 to acquire office equipment for the investigation, which the DOJ report explained will remain federal government property after the probe is finished. The special counsel also spent $223,643 for travel, almost entirely for staffers who have made temporary relocations to the investigation's headquarters in Washington. The Mueller probe has also spent $157,339 for a variety of contractual services, including $111,245 for information technology, $24,456 for transcription and $17,217 for building services. Al Franken tried to forcibly kiss her after a taping of his radio show in 2006. The woman ducked to avoid his lips, prompting Franken to tell her, "It's my right as an entertainer" as she quickly left the room, according to the former staffer. POLITICO is withholding the woman's name to protect her identity. Franken (D-Minn.) denied the accusation.
