The quanitiee of European resin which were available for this evaluation were very small, in all but one ease sufficient for only one BrabendLer run. Each batch was separately confounded as follows:
C-PVC Resin Thermolite 31 Stabilizer Allied AC-629H Lubricant
70 grams 2.1 grama 0.35 grams
(Parts) 100
3 0.5
Each batch was weighed into a 6 oz. bottle having a screw lid. The bottles were then packed in a 1 gal. paint can, (carefully padded), and mixed by agitating for 10 minutes on a Red Devil paint shaker. The entire contents of each bottle constituted one Brabender charge.
The Brabender procedure employed in this study paralled as closely as possible
the procedure developed during a recent evaluation of Dynamit label C-IYC resin*.
The differences were (1) the use af tbs paint shaker to aix a 72.45 grae batch
as opposed to the previous use of a Waring blander in which 225 gran batches
were
and (2; the use of a 72.45 grae Brabender charge rather than a 70
grae charge. The following standard conditions were used in this evaluation:
19If Cavity Bhaparaturs 30 rpa Botov Speed
3* Leading aat Preheat Tins

Using fusion torque, decooposition torque, and A Torque we can roughly rank
the Wacker and ICI C-PVC resins Into groups with the comparable Geon hl-temp
resins. In evaalnlng the data we find that none of the resins tested are similar
to hi>tesv Geon 601X560. Hi-teap 601X560 spears to be of higher
weight
than any other tested in this study, has a Brahander DT8 tie* of 9.5 ainates,
and a A Torque of 1500 at. gas. Upon decomposition It becraws dry and eruaby-
apparently highly croealinked.
Oman hi-teap 603x560 had a higher fusion torqua than the 601X560 ssapls taetad but had a lower daec^oaiticn torqua, sad than a larger A Torqae. D.T.8.
tine for this 603x560 reain wae 8.5 minutes. Based spon the several torqae
re roamants we find that ICI's Corric C6Q/97 and tenter's Tianol vahO/GO are
similar to 603X560. Corvic C6O/97 was foand to ha squally am stable as 603x560
while Tinaol ?a*i0/60 wae uarglaaUy leea ao.
Geco hi-teap 605X560 had a 7300 atr. pa. fusion torqae and a 2950 atr. pi. A Torqua. The two ICI Carrie C9O/90 rsaiaa compare quits wall with 605X560 in viaeoaity and both era slightly aura stable than aar 605X560 eontrol.
The lehr Tinaol VI50/50 rasin pmtered exceptionally low torqae valuss-
boto fusion and daooapoaltlon torqoa. A density naasursawnt of I.58 pw/cn3 suggests that it is a highly chlorinated vary low molecular weight resin. The long D.T.S. time (13 mia.) resulted from the fact that vary little shear heating occurred during tbs processing. The Mxlaam stock taaperatore generated with Vlnnoi VP50/50 was tiiff., ocaparad with kyf7. tar our lamest molecular weight
protect kl-teai 605x560.
