As stated in our previous reply, the committees are evaluating all comments submitted in the consultation and they will take the information into account in the opinions as far as considered relevant. Please note that the information submitted in the consultation is also available to the experts of the five European countries who submitted the restriction proposal. They are updating the original restriction proposal based on the evaluation of the input received. Be assured that if there is a need for further clarification of the comments submitted in the consultation, your organisation will be contacted and requested to provide additional information on the topic.
Of course, as an observer during the plenary meeting in June, you are able to contribute with relevant information during the discussion point if needed. However, note that only brief and relevant technical and scientific oral contributions will be allowed during plenary discussions.
Lastly, please note that the draft opinion on the topic of the waste stage for PFAS, which will be discussed in the June plenary, is not finalised yet as the committees are still evaluating the comments received during consultation.

Thank you kindly for the clarifica on and your reply! We are happy to hear that our feedback has been well received and we fully understand ECHA must adhere to the working process of the consulta on. During the last RAC mee ng we were informed that the dossier is currently being updated, par cularly regarding the end-of-life sec on. Therefore, we wondered if we could get in contact with the experts working on this part? We can in any case share our points during the next mee ng in June, e.g. with regards to the temperature.
We are of course always available for further inquiries, as the research into PFAS in the waste phase is con nuously developing and the Waste-to-Energy sector is coopera ng on the topic with several independent research ins tutes.

Thank you for your message and for letting us know that the info session for new accredited stakeholders was beneficial. Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
Regarding your question, we would like to inform you that RAC's and SEAC's evaluation of the information received during consultation is currently ongoing. The committees are aware of the information submitted by CEWEP and it will be considered for the opinion making if deemed relevant.
Additionally, please note that after closing of the consultation (so after the September 25th 2023 deadline), ECHA will not consider any new comments submitted, nor any additional information related to comments submitted during consultation, unless specifically requested by the Committees. If the Committees decide there is, for example, a need for further clarification of the submitted information, we will contact your organisation and let you know which information is of the interest to the Committees and how to submit it.

Thanks for the info session for new accredited stakeholders last week! As our organisa on CEWEP, the Confedera on of European Waste-to-Energy plants, has recently become part of the ECHA stakeholder circle, it was useful to get more insight on how to engage.
I'm contac ng you in connec on with the upcoming RAC mee ng, where an addi onal discussion on the waste phase is on the agenda. During the last mee ng, a discussion on incinera on of FluoroPolymers concluded that incinera on could considered as a possible source of short/medium chain PFASs depending on the type of FPs and the temperature used for thermal treatment. An incinera on temperature of 1100 C was presented as a possibly safe threshold, but some PFASs require higher temperatures (1400 C for CF4). Addi onally, it was men oned that municipal incinera on facili es generally do not achieve temperatures needed for full degrada on of PFASs (including FPs). We would like to clarify some of these points, if possible before the next RAC mee ng in June.
The Waste-to-Energy sector (incinera on of residual household waste that cannot be recycled whilst recovering energy) has extensive prac cal experience in trea ng polluted substances in an environmentally sound way and contributes to research in trea ng emerging contaminants, such as PFAS. For your convenience, please find a ached the feedback sent by CEWEP to the consulta on.
Would it be possible to organise a call with you to discuss PFAS and the Waste-to-Energy sector before the next RAC mee ng?
