Dear Dr. Kehoe: A couple of days following my return from an extended trip over the country I went away for a week,- and. did not get back until last Kednesday. Since that time I ^ have been pretty much up to my neck trying to catch up with matters that had. accumulated during many weeks' absence from the office. This is the first opportunity I have had of reading your letter of July 5th in which you suggest a policy be adopted whereby no employee who has in any manner been exposed to the industrial hazards connected with our-busi ness shall be discharged or requested to resign until he has been given a release by your Department. . I am pleased that you have made the sugges tion, and such policy is being adopted, as of this date. In connection with, this subject, do you not think that it would, be an advisable plan for us to have not less than, one examination a year of each one of our employees who is exposed to such hazards, I particularly have in mind ao our field men who are handling Ethyl fluid for demonstration E - purposes. Are they not as a natter of fact as much, if not more, exoosed than most of the men who are engaged in mixing the fluid with gasoline at our customers' plants? I think that if some such plan were put into effect it would not involve very extensive traveling on the part of whomever you should, select to make these examinations-- they could probably be best arranged to be held at our division offices.
